On April 12, 2005, the Discovery Channel broadcast the premiere of the American reality television series Deadliest Catch. The program follows crabbers on fishing vessels in the Bering Sea during the Alaskan king crab and snow crab fishing seasons. The fishing fleet's operations center is the port of Dutch Harbor, Alaska, which is located on the Aleutian Islands. The Discovery Channel-produced program's title alludes to the high danger of harm or death associated with this line of work.  

The Discovery Channel broadcast Deadliest Catch, which debuted in 2005, is still going strong today. Ten episodes made up the inaugural season, and the season finale aired on June 14, 2005. Since then, subsequent seasons have always shown from April until June or July. The series was renewed for a fifteenth season on March 7, 2019, according to a Discovery Channel announcement.
