When we were 16, he was introduced to drag racing by another local, and they began competing in local high school drag races at Thunder Valley in Noble, Oklahoma. So they've been doing it intermittently for the last 20 years or so."
His ability behind the wheel gave him a well-known name in the Oklahoma racing scene, and that's how series mainstay Big Chief became aware of him. Damon accepted the reality star's invitation to participate with him on Street Outlaws OKC, and the rest is history.

Damon has a long history with the sport. He was only 16 when a local connected him to drag racing, and he immediately began competing in Thunder Valley, Noble, Oklahoma, high school pulls.
Before changing the Camaro into what it is currently, he did a bit of index racing with it. He was only interested in doing a head-up with the Camaro, and the crew modified everything. Wife of Damon Merchant Lacy Merchant is a member of her racer husband's crew. She works as a mechanic and is a staunch supporter of her spouse.
