What has happened to Coliesa McMillian on the show?

Coliesa McMillian, star of My 600-lb Life season 8, was 41 years old and 643 pounds when she featured on the show in 2020. Coliesa was a mother of four children who struggled with health difficulties related to her weight. Dr. Younan Nowzaradan, a bariatric surgeon, chose to operate on her straight away. Coliesa suffered a heart attack at the age of 39, just before taping her episode. Her heart was never repaired since she was too hefty to survive a surgery. Following that, her fiance Melvin was killed in a vehicle accident. Coliesa was crushed by the loss, but she did what she needed to do to cope.

Cause of Coliesa McMillian's death

Coliesa McMilliandied immediately after the procedure, and her My 600-Lb Life episode has been removed from TLC. Coliesa was hospitalized for over a month when a suture from the procedure burst. As a result, she developed sepsis. Coliesa passed out at the emergency department while her physicians worked on her. Coliesa's daughter Hannah reported a few weeks later that the My 600-lb Life patient's health had improved. She was readmitted to the hospital in August, though. Coliesa passed away on September 22, 2022.

Her actual cause of death is not revealed in social media. Blair Shelton, Coliesa's nurse niece, indicated that the effects from her gastric sleeve operation were too much for her. She stated in a My 600-lb Life fan group that a suture ruptured internally shortly after Coliesa's bariatric surgery, causing a bleeding. Dr. Now had to undertake emergency surgery to fix the situation. Blair said that the creators of My 600-Lb Life did not "follow the correct timeline" about what occurred to Coliesa. She said that Coliesa never fully recovered from the surgery. She was on a ventilator for one and a half months in the ICU in Houston. Coliesa was paralyzed in part and got a bedsore. She also suffered a urinary tract infection and developed septic shock.

According to Blair, COVID-19 made cast member Coliesa terrified to visit the doctor. She was attempting to maintain her safety in order to protect the expecting mother because her daughter was pregnant. When she finally visited the emergency hospital, her kidneys were failing and she was septic. Coliesa hardly made any pee at all. The My 600-lb Life celebrity, according to Blair, was admitted to the hospital and given antibiotics. She was fading in and out of consciousness at that moment. The drugs had little effect, and her health had gotten worse. Within a week of being in the ICU, she passed away.
