  • About My 600Ib life

Since 2012, the TLC network has aired the American reality television program My 600-lb Life. Each episode chronicles the attempts of morbidly obese people to lose obesity to a healthy level over the course of a year. These people typically start the episode carrying a minimum of 600 pounds (270 kg). One or more former patients are featured in "Where Are They Now?" update episodes, which pick up one year or more after their initial episodes aired. Patients are under the supervision of Houston surgeon Younan Nowzaradan (who is commonly referred to as "Dr. Now"), who first has them try decreasing weight on their own by adhering to a rigorous diet before maybe suggesting gastric bypass surgery or sleeve gastrectomy depending on their progress.

Dr. Younan Nowzaradan of My 600-lb Life allowed Patrick two additional months to drop 100 pounds; nevertheless, he acquired 25 pounds in that time. Patrick was advised by Dr. Now to stop making the 11-hour drive from Houston, Texas, to his homeland of Columbus, Georgia, unless he started treating things more seriously. The doctor ordered him to a nearby clinic to keep an eye on his weight loss because of this. He reached 591 pounds after two more months, having shed 51 pounds. He and Amanda relocated to Houston after he underwent a gastric sleeve procedure and continued to lose weight. Patrick measured 531 pounds at the conclusion of the episode, having shed a total of 126 pounds.
