Jerome Richard "Jerry" Johnston is a novelist, documentary filmmaker, and evangelical Christian evangelist from the United States. Johnston serves as the director of the Christian Thinkers Society and the vice president for innovation and tactical advertising at Galveston Baptist University in the city of Houston, Texas. Johnston and his spouse Cristae Jo Huf Johnston are theological academics and co-producers of a television series about the "Nones' ' phenomena that is now in development.

Jerry is also widely recognized as a street racer who gained notoriety from his appearances on the Street Outlaws reality series on the Discovery Channel. He is well-known for driving a 1972 Camaro Rally Sport in racing, which is jet black.

Early life

Johnston attended Youth for Christ's Christ Unlimited Bible Institute during his final year of high school, completed its courses, and eventually earned a General Equivalency Diploma. He received a scholarship acceptance to Lynchburg, Virginia's then-named Liberty Baptist College. Johnston joined the college as an "associate evangelist" while attending Liberty Jerry earned his bachelor's degree from Kansas City, Missouri's Midwestern Baptist College and his master's degree from the Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Johnston and his wife each received Doctor of Ministry degrees in May 2012 from Wolfville, Nova Scotia-based Acadia Divinity College, an organization connected to the Convention of Atlantic Baptist Churches. An Investigation of Patterns and Determinants of Employee turnover Among Protestant Evangelical Clergy is the title of Johnston's doctoral dissertation.After Johnston gave the baccalaureate address at Liberty University in 1998, Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary conferred an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree on him. Before receiving his undergraduate degree, Johnston controversially utilized the title "Doctor" based on this prestigious degree.
