  • The storage war

An American reality television competition series called Storage Wars (stylized as STORAGE WAR$) airs on the A&E network. 12 seasons were initially broadcast, from December 1, 2010, to January 30, 2019. A thirteenth season began airing in April 2021.

In California, if a storage locker's rent is unpaid for three months, the contents may be sold by an auctioneer as a single lot of goods at a cash-only auction. The program follows experienced purchasers as they make bids on these lockers at storage facilities across the state. The purchasers get five minutes to examine the contents of each locker from the doorway before the auction, but they are not permitted to enter the locker or touch any of the objects inside. The winning bidders go through the lockers once the day's auctions are over, making projections for the prices they will assign to the contents and/or seeking the advice of experts for an appraisal of odd objects. A final tally at the conclusion of the episode reflects the buyers' net profit or loss. Running totals on-screen indicate the cost in relation to the estimated total value.
