Early life

The 37-year-old Mike Meginness resided in his parents' basement in Marion, Ohio. He struggled to move around because he weighed about 745 pounds, and simply going from the basement to the first floor of the house seemed like the most difficult effort to him. The only thing that improved things for him was eating a lot of food. Mike was used to being a big guy because he had reached the 100-pound threshold when he was only 6 years old. As a result, Mike had experience with weight concerns from a young age, something none of his siblings had.

He made the decision to use his height of 6.5 feet in his favor, though, as the weight on the scale continued to rise. His talent allowed him to dream big and have a more active life in football, where he became involved. But along with that, he was routinely bullied by his peers, which once more encouraged his poor eating patterns. As this cycle went on, Mike's hopes suffered another blow when the NCAA declared him medically ineligible to play after suffering two concussions in a row.

Mike was scheduled to travel to Ohio, continue on his weight-loss programme, and pay a visit. It was decided that Mike would go back to Ohio, continue his weight-loss programme, and schedule frequent visits with Dr. Now. In order to treat his depression, the doctor also suggested that he seek treatment, which would keep him from using food as a coping method. Therefore, in spite of numerous challenges, Mike was able to achieve his goals of losing weight, receiving approval for weight-loss surgery, and continuing his journey towards healthiness even after the shooting was finished.
