Kelly made an appearance in My 600-lb Life season 7, episode 13. She was from Greensboro, North Carolina, and weighed 725.5 pounds at the beginning of her My 600-lb Life appearance. The 41-year-old recognized she needed assistance to conquer her eating disorder. Kelly was practically paralyzed by the time she went to see Dr. Now. She said that when her life seemed to be spiraling downward, she resorted to food for consolation, which made matters worse. She had been in the hospital for shortness of breath and congestive heart failure before starting My 600-lb Life to lose weight.  

She was determined to stick to the diet plan and shed 220 pounds, allowing her to be cleared for weight-loss surgery. She lost another 100 pounds after undergoing the operation. Finally after following the strict diet plan of Dr. Now, she was able to reduce a substantial amount of weight i.e. 342 lb. and was down to 383 lb. at the end of her hospital days.  

Mason stated on TLC after being released from the hospital.  

"My plan is to stick to the diet, do physical therapy, occupational therapy, and walk in the neighborhood. To do what Dr. Now expects me to do. But with my heart not functioning the way it's supposed to, this breath could be my last breath. But I don't want to die."  

Cause of Kelly Mason’s death  

Kelly diedwhile her season of My 600-lb Life was still on the air. On 15th of February 2019, she died in her sleep a few days before her 42nd birthday from cardiac arrest. It was a sad day for My 600-pound Life viewers; even Dr. Now was moved by her death. He remarked that her death was caused not by her resumption of her prior eating habits, but by the harm her weight had done to her heart. So it is necessary to love ourself and make healthy eating habits for healthy life.
